FIRST SOME MOOD MUSIC:
(I actually taped that Debeers commercial and would watch, rewind, repeat, watch, rewind, repeat just so I could squeeze as much lemon juice as I could out of that song. Yeah, I was a weirdo.)
New year, new news, new specials. And so we bid goodbye to 2013 (nice knowing you, Grilled Cheezy Wheezy/Little Italy Bowl) and give a warm aloha to 2014. I mean, especially since half the country is freezing.
CASE IN POINT:
On the warmer, sunnier, Kogi side of things, as we lose one crisp, cheesy, melty friend, we gain another. The vegetarian-friendly Spinach and Shroom Quesadilla w/ Jalapeñodoes pretty much what it advertises: satisfies without leaving you with a heavy, greasy feeling. Topped off with our quirky, cult-favorite salsa azul, you might have a new favorite friend on the menu.
On the Chego front, there are TWO THINGS to announce:
1 – Chego Gift Cards!!! — I know, I know. Something everyone’s been asking for since 2011, but you know what? It only took us 3 years to print out gift cards and sell them directly through Chego!! They come in $25 increments and are valid for 365 days upon purchase. So anyone shopping for late holiday gifts/upcoming birthday gifts for Capricorns and Aquariuses, this could be something cute and fun to present your friends and fam with.
2 – Let us say hello to our new Butta Rice, not to be confused with our Kimchi Spam Bowl or our Buttered Kimchi Chow of yore. For all the Koreans who grew up in So-Cal, this is based off the simple butter rices we grew up on: hot rice, butter and soy sauce, with a punch of green onions, water spinach and caramelized kimchi. Simple, straight forward and tastes like home.
And, as always, my favorite vidjeos of the moment! Here are my top 3 vidjeos I missed catching in 2013 but have no shame sharing with y’all in 2014. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll probably look at me and ask, “Wtf, Alice?”:
