Today’s blog post is brought to you by the letter “D” for “DANCE” as well as “O” for all things “OCTUBRE.”
I know, there is something about seeing a pair of female toddlers and kiddles serving it up that makes the average human peon so unaccomplished, amiright?
And here’s Baby Bey.
By the way, forgot to mention that we got voted as Best Food Truck at the Munchies Award this year. I KNOW. How did that pass me by, I have NO idea. But a belated thank you to all the people who voted.
Now that we’re warmed up, here are a list of all the cool things to look forward to in the month of October.
Turns out, this Sunday, October 6, a river of voyeurs and bi-wheeled exhibitionists shall run right through Chinatown, cutting right past, yes, yours truly at Chego. Right out front, if you need a bit of a breather, there shall be happy ping pong tables and other happy surprises right at Central Plaza, replete with a Craft Beer Garden, bike racks and more in the little parking lot in front of Grand Star. And, if you’re in need of bike fuel and hankering for a Chubby Pork Belly Bowl, do poke your head inside the Far East Plaza.
Right on the heels of CICLAVIA, we’ve got the much-anticipated premiere of “Emma Approved” on Youtube. If y’all aren’t familiar with “Emma Approved,” it’s brought to you by the creators of the “Lizzie Bennet Diaries,” where Jane Austen meets 2013 in a series of vlogs. Ever wanted to check in on a more contemporary version of Clueless? This just might be the ticket. Premiers HERE on October 7.
LOS ANGELES HAUNTED HAYRIDE
I came. I saw. I conquered. (I also wanted to very much pee my pants, I was so scared.) Imagine all the very best Hollywood set designers, smoke machines, costume designers and actors have come together to put on a show that will make Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion look, well, laughable. But seriously. Come with friends. You’ll need someone to hug and hide your face into if you want to survive the most thrillingly and genuinely scary experience this side of L.A. County. You can buy tickets HERE and it’s going on at the spooky abandoned zoo in Griffith Park all throughout this month.
LACMA MUSE COSTUME BALL
October 26 Feeling ten degrees fancier than wearing that sexy ______ costume and drunkenly clawing your way through a crush of people this Halloween season? Tickets run steep for non-LACMA members at $100 a pop, but my friends tell me that the quality and imagination behind the costumes will blow away whatever you hope to see this October 31st outside that skeevy dive bar you ended up going to because you hadn’t made any plans in advance.
And, as always, remember to get your dark, fudgy, marshmallow-massaged brownies at our requisite trucks or the Alibi Room in Culver City.
Love and tacos,
P.S. And your random dose of Disney.
