TACO PRICE INCREASES
::cowers:: I guess I’ll start with the less-happy news before moving on with the more meh-notifications with slight shifts this new year.
BUT it’s not a huge jump. It’s just a diiime, thass top of the liiine — okay, I’ll stop rappin. It’s pathetic, I know.
Nothing else is going up, just tacos. To be real honest with y’all, food costs have gone up in the past 2 years and we’ve been struggling just a little bit to keep the tacos at $2 the past year. –__–;; It finally came down to either going for a cheaper, more questionable quality of meat and produce, or to keep things at the same level as we have since Day 1.
And we chose the quality over the questionable. ^__^v
CHEGO PRICE INCREASES
Again, choosing quality over the questionable with our purveyors, so here goes:
Ooey Gooey Fries $6
Steak in the Heart $9
Sour Cream Hen House $8
Beefy T $9
All in all, we took a good look at everything on the menu board and did our best to keep prices the same where we could and bump up where it was necessary. Prime rib ain’t cheap, peoples!
EVERYTHING PRICE INCREASES
Kidding. Ain’tchu glad??
TRUCKS CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT
Not 12:15 or 12:05, but midnight.
So it’s back to traveling a bit throughout the year — only this year we might see koalas. And Tim Tams!
Rumor has it that Australia’s also 2nd to Japan when it comes to KitKat variety, so I am very, VERY excited to see if it’s true.
Unrelated-but-kinda-related: Went to Vons the other day and saw Tim Tams. But they were Pepperidge Farm Tim Tams (as opposed to Arnott’s Tim Tams), which has me wondering if it’s like the Hershey’s Cadbury bar. Similar wrapper, but questionable quality. (A HERSHEY’S CADBURY BAR IS NO BUENO. Chalky and cloying.) Same goes for Hersheys-versus-Nestle KitKats. When it comes to KitKats stateside, why, oh why, are the wafers always stale and the chocolate of such poor, poor quality???
YOU ARE NOW ENTERING PAPI CHULO TOWN
Or you will be. SOON.
A lot of people ask about why Roy Choi is Papi Chulo, where the name comes from, what the name means, etc. Additionally, my little brother just happened to acquire a nifty 7D camera. So what we’ve been doing lately is shooting the past few weeks on our breaks to kinda capture and edit together the landscape of Papi Chulo. His LA. Our LA. The LA that isn’t very present onscreen in TV or film, but makes up 90% of what’s off screen.
Papi Chulo Town ALSO just so happens to be the name of our new landing page, which will run videos that will be updated semi-regularly and also contain links to our KoGi and Chego webpages.
As for where the name come from — it’ll all be explained in due time at http://papichulotown.com
IF it redirects to the eatchego.com page, no worries, folks. Just a temporary misdirection that I believe will be solved by end of day today. In the meantime, you can occupy yourself with a few stills from our pet project HERE.
Love and tacos,
