Tammi Terrell Tuesday w/ Marvin Gaye

Summer has been fairly faboosh these past 2 days — take it til mid-August for it to hit me that it’s actually HERE.  To enjoy what’s left of it, I’ve been sucked into the world of Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye.  AND YOU CAN TOO!

This is my favorite Tammi/Marvin duet, though they’re probably best known for “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” If memory serves me correctly, Method Man sampled this back in the 90s.

YAH! FOUND IT!! This whole time, I had no idea it was with Mary J Blige.

Bee-tee-dubs, if anyone’s into 90s hip hop and digging around for the original samples, I’d highly recommend D.J. Neil Armstrong’s Too Original mix if you haven’t checked it out already. It kind of makes you remember that hip hop used to be a lot more fun, in a light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek kinda way.

It wasn’t trying to be hard, it wasn’t trying to be sexy, it wasn’t trying to be clever. If it was hard, it was hard, if it was clever, it was clever. It was written by poets, gangsters, jokesters and your friendly neighborhood asshole.

But then again, I’m no expert in hip hop and when you’re in middle school, you tend to have very selective hearing.

Anyway, I’m calling this Tammi Terrell Tuesday w/ Marv Gaye, so let’s stick with that for the remainder of the post. (I was gonna put up summer fun pictures, especially w/ Papi Chulo’s not HOT PINK tattoo — AHAHAHAHAHA — but I forget I lent my sister my camera at the roller rink on Saturday.)

EEK! Ok, no more commentary for now — I got to load up the Twitter schedule. ENJOY!

Love and tacos,
Aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

Don’t think the world could’ve handled the Greatness if this super-chick could’ve stayed well. We can barely stand it now!
