Sriracha: The BAR-

April 30th, 2010

Okay, so I’ve leaked it a bit on the Twitter feed that our pastry chef Beth KeLLerhaLs (creator of the infamousLy evasive chocoLate tres leches) has started her own sweets company caLLed DoubLe Chin Desserts. So if you see the sticker, it’s not that we’re outsourcing to another company.  It’s the same oLe, good oLe Beth in the kitchen, sLaving away into the wee hours to keep up with the demands for her Rock Yer Road, tres leches and now her uber gourmet Sriracha bar.  YES, SRIRACHA.  IN A BAR.  Dipped in chocoLate.

Cuz a rittLe bit of spice aLways makes everything nice.    Speaking of spice…

Mmmm… Much better.

Now that we’ve got some mood music to set the groove of this post (RANDOM INTERJECTION: did you know that my roomie was a dancer for the Spice GirLs on their last tour???), we can commence with a littLe food burLesque to whet the sweet tooth nestLed inside that mouth of yourn.

Like any great burLesque star, it comes fuLLy cLothed in a fLimsy negligee of cLass and sass. The Queen Victoria embLem creates an ambiance of tradition and sophistication, whiLe the deLicate siLver crepe of the aLuminum foiL (ReynoLds, of course — wouLd Beth even dream of sourcing it ANYWHERE eLse?) begs to be undone by a pair of hungry hands, a team of greedy fingers…fiending to liberate the spicy souL burning beneath aLL that superfLuous dressing.

And, ah…there it is…

The first thing your eye catches is — yet another tease. For the burning fLames of passion are encased in a thick sheLL of dark chocoLate, as matte and as fuLL of forbidden promises as Dita Von Teese’s red, red lips.  But dare to take a bite and your teeth wiLL feeL that last, wiLLfuL SNAP of seLf controL.

SuddenLy, and compLeteLy, its souL pours out its contents in a river of carameL, an unduLation of ganache.  Deep-tissue massaged with the very spirit of Sriracha.

In an instant, you’re a beLiever. Liberation can be had.  Sriracha WAS destined to commingLe with a lava of chocoLate and a crumbLe of spiced, candied peanuts.

And did I mention that Beth’s new Sriracha Bar aLso possesses a rather nice bottom?

If you look cLoseLy, you can see that instead of nougat, it’s seductive innards are luxuriating atop a sLab of chocoLate teeming with nuggets of crisped rice.

The Sriracha Bar.  $4. Quite honestLy, it’LL be everything you’ve ever dreamed of.  And more.

Love, tacos and Sriracha,
Aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

P.S. Okay. SeriousLy?  I normaLLy find it hard to sit through an entire candy bar without a jug of water right next to me cuz they are normaLLy way, WAY too sweet.  But this wiLL be one of the few and the proud candy bars that you’LL be abLe to ENJOY  from head to toe, start to finish.   Ah know ah did.   ~.^
