MASSIVE APOLOGIES and a PLea for Patience!

August 6th, 2009

Okay, so for aLL y’aLL who don’t know, UncLe Roy has snuck away into his littLe boat with his fam and has saiLed away this week for yet another adventure.

HE WILL COME BACK. HE IS MISSED.  HE IS NEEDED.  AND WITHOUT HIM, ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE.

Here’s just a brief rundown of aLL the festivities yesterday:
* Roja’s engine overheated and BROKE DOWN.
* Miscommunication over the scheduLe — 1 message to the crew, another message to the pubLic.
* We had 2 littLe lost trucks scrambLing aLL over the pLace.
* Some foLks decided to caLL the cops.
* After which we learned that we had Santa Monica permits for food, but not the proper ones for pubLic vending.
* Poor managers had to deaL w/ a lot of heat from the law.
* Some more last minute scrambLing.
* I had erratic contact w/ the technoLogicaL aspects of KoGi. (Intermittent internet + no ceLL phone = DISASTER)
* Unbeknownst to us, a reaLLy sweet and awesome fan (@jscottlowry) actuaLLy physicaLLy parked his arse to reserve a space for us at 5750 WiLshire.  Not just once, but TWICE.  IN THE SAME DAY.  FOR WELL OVER AN HOUR!!!

So first of aLL, I reaLLy want to apoLogize to everyone who came out and waited or was confused or understandabLy irritated with our miscommunication, erratic scheduLing and maLfunctions.

@JScottLowry – I AM SO FRIGGIN SORRY, YOU HAVE NO IDEA!!!  I stiLL feeL so horribLe!!!  If we ever meet in person, I shaLL more than make it up to youse!!!

SecondLy – we’re heading over to Santa Monica today to check and double check that we’re fiLing ALL of the proper paper work so that we can come back soon.

ThirdLy – Roja DID GET FIXED!  So it is back on the road this week.  (SeriousLy, the trucks have been tag-teaming it in the ICU the past 2 weeks!  1st Verde, then AzuL and now Roja.)

LastLy – we regrouped, figured out the source of the miscommunication and streamlined (hopefuLLy) the new scheduLing for the week.

Again, apoLogies and a pLea for patience from aLL you loverLy, hungry peopLes as we are transitioning into temporariLy taking over Chef Roy’s responsibiLities whiLe he’s gone into hiding for the week.  May his littLe boat saiL on back to us soon!

(( H U G ))

Love and tacos,
Aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

Makers of inferior food must be getting scared: I’ve never seen Santa Monica send so many cops. Fight, and don’t abandon 26th & Broadway…

JScottLowry sounds awesome. You should create a “Kogi medaL of honor” for your best fans.

Wow. So many cops? There were three. I talked with them and they happened to be coming back from lunch in the same car when they saw the trucks. They also said that if people break the law, they have to take action if made aware of it. They also said that Kogi had been made aware that the license was required and had been given warnings before. Although I love the food, I can’t blame the cops for doing their jobs. Hopefully the trucks will get the necessary permits and be back soon. They also stopped the Shave Attack guy who was setting up shop but allowed him to leave because he had not sold anything yet. He didn’t have a permit either. Go Kogi!

Sounds scandalous & a little to over the top. Shame on those people that called SMPD. Shame on them. How awful!
@Jscottlowry is a hero! Way to go dude! We’ll forgive you, Alice. LoL

You guys are creating something wonderful. Every bit of growth requires stretching what is and sometimes that causes pain, but it usually doesn’t last. Congrats on your venture and take note of Roy’s wise move to put himself & his family in the forefront – ask any athlete, serious workouts require serious recovery time.
