Tofu

November 24th, 2008

We give our organic tofu an extra long soak in some chillies, garlic and citrus before having it char just a while longer on the grill and then – SURPRISE! – we top that shizz with our new salsa verde.  It’s like organic mapo tofu INSIDE a taco.  Only better.

BTW — in case you want to know where we get our organic tofu from, it’s Pulmone Wildwood.  For some reason, finding affordable organic tofu is hard to find these days.  In any case, now you know where exactly you can get it.  OH!  And guess what?  Apparently they make sprouted tofu as well.  I had no idea that tofu came…sprouted.  But now it does.  And YOU CAN HAZ.

All of our tacos are topped with:

  • sesame-chili salsa roja
  • julienne romaine lettuce and cabbage tossed in Korean chili-soy vinaigrette
  • cilantro-green onion-lime relish
  • crushed sesame seeds
  • sea salt

Hello… Well I wrote to you folks a few days ago, being that my mom insisted on looking into your website. I moved from L.A. back to Oahu 3 years ago and my friends that are still up there said your cuisine is the bomb…. so, being that I’m a cook/chef’s assistant at a Japanese bar and grill here, my family and I were thinking about doing our own lunch wagon. Preping the best kind of sushi’s, and onolicious korean grinds! We were interested in speaking to you folks with many different ideas and ways to collaborate and multiply your idea even faster than you folks have it already! When you folks have time, please email me with your thoughts… by the way my best friend and her family just opened up a restaurant in L.A. called Hawaiian barbeque chicken! Heard of it???? It is definitely chicken to die for with my aunties infamous sauce…. ;D

I’m Korean, and live in Korea

in Korea there are no food like that Kogi

the cook said this is Korean style PoJangMaJa (포창마차)

but that is not a Korean style PoJangMaca.

and also PojangMaca is a Japanese style store

    not a Korean…

when i see the food that is totally Maxican food

    not a Korean..

Hey cook, why you tell the false to American who have no background knowledge about Asian style.

why you steal a other country’s culture.

you useing a PoJangMaCa( Japanese stlye store) and Mexican food, there is no connection with Korean things.

if you argue with Korean style, talk to me useing with Korean.

i might not know if PojangMaca (포장마차) is from the japanese culture, but if it were so Japanese then why do they have people in KOREA selling ddukbokki (떡볶이), and all these other korean foods that aren’t even japanese. can’t you tell that the chef was trying to make a connection to the korean culture. he didn’t say it WAS a POJANGMACA…he said it was something like one…where people can get food outside and not in a restaurant. LEARN your ENGLISH first…

if you argue “English style” (if that makes any sense), then TALK to ME USING (not useing) ENGLISH…이 싶색이아ㅏㅏㅏㅏ~

Yea, Korean girl from Korea- you are really pathetic. One thing you don’t understand about America is that it’s a mix of different cultures . Besides, Koreans have no distinct style so what are you defending? You guys borrowed everything you have from the Japanese and Chinese. Literally, the only thing you guys ever invented is kimchi. At times you make a decent bbq, but you didn’t invent that either. Please get over yourself. You’re sick and stupid.

    강승태…

You said you are Korean, but your Korean pronounciation is wrong.
I think you are not Korean. You Must be Japanese who live in Korea.
And maybe you can speak and write in Korean well.

Many Japanese are jealous of Korean Culture, and I know many Japanese such as you. You’re really pathetic.

And another reason why you’re not Korean is…
You emphasized “Japanese Style” excessively. If you are really Korean, this behavior is very strange.

I don’t know why do you want to insist on argueing Asian Culture obstinately. I can’t understand you. Go back to your home in Japan.

well, bon appetit – seems America is as great as ever, it’s a good mixture of this planet’s cultures and an example to the rest of the world. You can’t really get angry at each other when enjoying good delicious, lovely food… The inter-Asian quarreling between Japanese and Koreans makes me laugh. That’s really no use when you have the good luck to live in California, folks. Have fun and enjoy life. Love from the auld world (Europe)

fatjoey – Ahahaha. Wow. Those Koreans-are-dogeaters jokes never faiL to aLways faiL to amuse me. How much time did it take for you to come up with that one, dude? ::shrugs:: I’m just sayin’.

HypotheticaLLy, let’s say in an aLternate reaLity that the joke was actuaLLy cLever (never mind not racist), it wouLd have made a lot more sense to post it under, say… “Short Rib” in lieu of “Tofu.”

Or perhaps you are being soooooooo incredibLy ironic and sardonic that your cLeverness and wit are eons ahead of what my brain can presentLy comprehend, in which case, kudos to you, sir.

But intuition teLLs me this is not the case, Fatjoey… in which case, your wit may need to go on a littLe diet.

Skim some fat off the top and get off your lazy arse to cobbLe together something that’s actuaLLy funny. Or at least semi-cLever. Look, if it’s gonna be racist, at least make it witty, dude.
